Welcome to our February edition of e-Matters, the
electronic newsletter from SMC the world leaders
in pneumatic technology.
This month´s newsletter is primarily focused on
the strong, inextricable, link between Measurement
and Control.
Just
like night and day, these two words go hand-in-hand.
You
simply cannot have control without measurement and
without accurate measurement you cannot detect any
irregularities and ultimately any control is lost.
An excellent example of this link can easily be
demonstrated by looking a something as simple as
dieting - which many people are currently undertaking
in this post Christmas/New Year period. You need
to check (measure) your weight in order to introduce
a weight loss plan (control) and you constantly
measure and control the number of calories you consume
and finally you check your weekly/monthly progress!
Whilst this, tongue-in-cheek, non-engineering example
of measurement and control is rather simplistic,
thanks to our R&D engineers and their focus
of all Pressure and Flow related matters we now

immediately see where air loss is occurring in your
systems?
By keeping any air loss to a minimum, not only will
your hard working compressors feel less of the strain,
