Smaller, lighter, faster, better – Sound familiar?
Dear Reader.
It seems that with the exception of waistlines, everything these days is getting smaller, whilst offering enhanced performance.
Mobile phones, mp3 players, netbooks and cameras are among today΄s must-have products which continue to shrink, yet include an ever increasing number of features and benefits.
And this phenomenon is not restricted to high tech electronics!
Ferrari has just presented this week their all new 458 Italia, the successor of the F430. Due to innovative engineering this car is even lighter than the F430 Scuderia and by using stratified fuel injection it has more power 570bhp at a lower emission of Carbon Dioxide 320g/km.
In manufacturing, it’s the same story.
Today, our market is demanding ever smaller components with improved performance yet manufactured with concern for the environment. This need is driving manufacturers in these ultra competitive times to use the latest technology to differentiate their products.
And it is why we put such a big emphasis and investment in R&D, and why our engineers are always looking at ways to make our products even smaller, lighter, faster and better than before.
Welcome to our July edition of e-Matters.

  INNOVATION AT A GLANCE

ZQ - Space saving vacuum ejector & system for use with vacuum pumps
Smaller, lighter, but with the same outstanding performance

Space Saving - SMC’s latest vacuum ejector , at only 10mm wide, is one of the smallest in the market.
It combines in a single unit a vacuum pressure switch and a suction filter, within its compact design.

Lightweight – with its resin manifold base and reduced size, the ejector weights between
95 and 109 g (depending on the selected model).

Provides excellent control – the digital vacuum pressure switch and LED display (both standard options) informs you at-a-glance of any abnormality in the suction flow.

ZQ Features
º Maximum suction flow: 5 – 22 l/min.
º Maximum vacuum pressure – 80kPa
º Nozzle diameter: 0.5, 0.7 or 1.0 (depending model) –
º One-touch Fittings
º 2 NPN/PNP options available
  Various fittings available

   More Innovations this month!

       HED – Chemical Thermo-con
Hot & cold accurate liquid control

Direct temperature control- No need for a tube type heat exchange
High accuracy – the Peltier system ensures temperature stability ±0.1 °C.
Compact & Lightweight – Half the size of similar competitors products.
Metallic Ion contamination decreased – by using PFA moulded parts.
Operating Temperature Range: 10 to 60 °C

Our SMC specialist recommends it for:

Wet etching equipment:
- Cleaning fluid temperature control.
- Acid, alkali fluid precise temperature control applications.
Plating equipment:
- Electrolytic solution temperature control.
- Silicon wafer copper wire plating fluid (electrolytic solutions and sulfuric acid wettable baths) can be used for IC chip lead bump plating solution to general industrial plating solutions.
CMP equipment:
- Cleaning fluid temperature control.
- Temperature control applications for electrolytic solutions and CMP cleaning fluid temperature control applications.

SMC, a single source for any of your daily (pneumatics) needs.

NEW VPA - 3 Port Solenoid valve with reduced power consumption

Power consumption as low as 0.55W (when power saving circuit is used)

Long life – Up to 50 million cycles.

High-quality air – as the built-in strainer removes any foreign materials from the incoming and outgoing fluid.

Reduced noise - thanks to the in-built full-wave rectifier, which changes noise to DC mode
