According to this directive, the definitive explanation of explosive atmospheres is as follows; explosive atmospheres are a mixture of air, under atmospheric conditions, of flammable substances in the form of gases, vapours, mists or dusts in which, after ignition has occurred, combustion spreads to the entire unburned mixture.
Additionally, these potentially explosive environments are further classified into various zones in accordance with the 1999/92/EC Directive.
SMC are committed in meeting this new legislation by providing our customers with a comprehensive range of certified products in various explosion proof protection categories.
