The new flagship R&D hub will accelerate the development of advanced technologies that directly support SMC’s innovation strategy and customer needs across Europe.

Tokyo, 2 March 2026 – SMC has officially begun operations at its new Japan Technical Center (JTC), located in the Kashiwa City of Tokyo’s metropolitan region. The centre becomes SMC’s main global hub for research and development, designed to accelerate innovation and reinforce the company’s technological leadership worldwide.

Equipped with state of the art research facilities, specialised laboratories and a collaborative environment that fosters creativity and efficiency, the JTC covers three interconnected buildings offering advanced capabilities in automation, control technologies, materials development, energy efficiency and industrial digitalisation.
