SMC has launched a vacuum pad series, ZP3E, that is either flat or bellows
shaped and features a shot blasted surface with grooves. The Series also has a
strong adsorption force, whilst being able to remove work pieces smoothly and
prevent removal failures due to sticking.
Vitoria, Spain (May 7, 2015)
SMC, the worldwide leading expert in pneumatics, has unveiled the ZP3E Series
multi-purpose vacuum pads, with a diameter range from 32 to 125 mm.
The ZP3E has been designed to meet the demands of general industry where there
is a requirement for a vacuum pad to hold different types of workpieces.
The pads are either flat or bellows shaped to accommodate both level and slanted
surfaces and are available in various materials – NBR, silicone rubber,
urethane rubber and FKM – to handle workpieces of different surface properties.
The pads also feature dents and bumps on the adsorption surface that guarantee
contact with the workpiece at all times and ensure stability of the suction
position, giving operators an effective and reliable solution. The grooves also
help with overall reliability as the adsorption force has been improved, eliminating
the risk of the workpiece slipping even on oily surfaces.
Requiring just one bolt to mount and replace the pad, the overall labour time
is greatly reduced improving efficiencies and costs. Being easy to disassemble,
the ZP3E is also environmentally friendly as the rubber and metal can be separated
for recycling.
SMC said: “The ZP3E is a great addition to our vacuum pad range. It meets
the growing demand for environmentally friendly products that also deliver in
terms of performance and flexibility, so that a broad variety of surfaces, sizes
or shapes of products can be picked up without a problem.”
Flexibility is key when it comes to the ZP3E and it features a wide adaptor
port size, which allows for a high suction flow rate across many applications
such as adsorbing cardboard without generating marks in the sustained element.
The mark-free NBR pad is ideal for such workpieces that need to remain free
from adsorption marks.
A male adapter for direct mounting offers further time and labour savings as
well as space savings. Another feature is that robot loads are reduced thanks
to a low weight in the ball joint type.
