RoHS Directive
SMC, the world's leading pneumatics provider, supplies RoHS compliant products since July 2006.
Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive in electrical and electronic equipment took effect on 1 July 2006.

Although defined differently in different regions (e.g. Europe and China), RoHS Directives have a common and quite simple aim. RoHS Directive is often referred to as the lead-free directive. In fact, it restricts the use of the following six dangerous substances:
•  Lead (Pb)
•  Mercury (Hg)
•  Cadmium (Cd)
•  Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+)
•  Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
•  Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE)
(PBB and PBDE are flame retardants used in several plastics.)

SMC is committed to green procurement.

SMC’s mission recognizes that the conservation of the earth’s environment is one of the most important challenges facing human beings and that its contribution is to develop and supply environmentally friendly products.

This commitment is translated in the following seven principles:
•  Decrease of environmentally harmful components
•  Decrease of noise, vibration and stink
•  Focus on energy saving products
•  Saving of natural resources
•  Consideration to transportation and packing
•  Consideration to abandonment
•  Information disclosure about green activities
