EU Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS): European regulation for the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances (ROHS) in Electrical and Electronic equipment. It repealed the Directive 2002/95/EC. Commonly known as the lead-free directive, RoHS has a quite simple aim, to restrain the use of the following six dangerous substances:
- Lead (Pb)
- Mercury (Hg)
- Cadmium (Cd)
- Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+)
- Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
- Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) (PBB and PBDE are flame retardants used in several plastics)
Since the Directive took full effect in 2006, at SMC we are actively and gradually working on adapting all our products to it. Go ahead and check all SMC's ROHS compliant products.
At SMC we are committed to Green Procurement
