SMC joined the list of sponsors of IPI International Packaging Institute in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, in April 2015. SMC operates around the world and the sponsorship agreement will provide a significant new link with the packaging sector. In return, IPI has acquired a major supplier to the packaging machinery industry as one of its sponsors. The move also highlights the increasing diversity among IPI partner organisations, reflecting the Institute’s growth as a hub for the wider sector and the reach of its professional development and training programmes.
Becoming an official sponsor of IPI International Packaging Institute marks the further expansion of SMC into the packaging sector. Diego Mirabelli, European Industry Manager Food, confirms that SMC will be able to add to its knowledge of the packaging sector through its strategic partnership with IPI. “The rofessional development programmes and activities offered by IPI give us the opportunity to add to our knowledge of customers‘ requirements in the packaging sector”. In addition to this vital market insight, as a sponsor, SMC will also benefit from the excellent networking opportunities with the packaging industry provided by IPI as well as from IPI’s links to the sector’s academic and research community at universities across Europe, the USA and Asia.
Keen to play active part in IPI development programmes “We welcome SMC’s decision to become a sponsor. They’re a major supplier to the packaging industry and highlight the broader positioning within the sector which IPI is achieving”, comments Stephan Schüle, IPI Managing Director, who is delighted about the new partnership. As an official sponsor, SMC is keen to play an active part in the range of events and development activities organised by IPI. The first joint IPI-SMC event is scheduled for autumn 2015: “Industry 4.0” will take place in November. Both IPI and SMC recognise the partnership as an ideal chance to keep abreast of new challenges in the packaging sector and to develop new solutions to address those.
