SMC Automation’s availability, personal contact, and extensive product range in vacuum technology are important factors for Cobotech to offer their customers the high degree of customized solutions required in a world where every customer has specific automation needs.
Cobotech & SMC Automation-Partnership from day one
Linus Nyman, founder of Cobotech, and Niklas Lindberg from SMC Automation have had a close collaboration from the be[1]ginning. Since then, SMC has been the first choice for vacuum products in Cobotech’s various automation solutions. Around 7 out of 10 projects are customized, which places high demands on a supplier regarding product availability, technical data, and support.
"The accessibility and personalized support we receive from SMC, especially with Niklas leading the way, are priceless” says Linus. ”If we need more information than there is on the website, Niklas solves it for us within half an hour,” he continues.
Quick access to a large vacuum range with lightweight components
SMC Automation’s inventory and webshop are two very important parameters for Cobotech. In fact, they did not experience any major problems even during the extensive component shortage in 2022.
That many may not know is that SMC offers a large range of vacuum products, from various suction cups and ejectors to ad[1]vanced all-in-one units for cobots where only electricity needs to be connected.
"We have never experienced SMC not being enough when it comes to the vacuum range” says Linus
Keeping the weight down is necessary in robot applications, which is why they work a lot with lightweight materials like plastic and aluminum and choose lightweight components such as SMC’s vacuum ejector ZKJ with both blow-off valve and ejector, which ”weighs nothing” according to Cobotech. The next step is to launch more standard products. Even though around 70% of the projects are based on cust omer-specific products, standard products are an important part of Cobotech’s offering.
They effectively show what is possible and inspire customers, but they also serve as an important starting point for more customized solutions that may start with a standard solution and then be adapted to the customer’s specific needs. The next step is therefore to develop new standard products, and SMC products will be involved from the start in this work.
Cobotech was founded in 2017 and currently has 4 employees. The business idea is to create automation solutions with colla borative robots, and Cobotech is a certified system integrator for Universal Robots. The company offers both standard products and fully customi zed solutions, including the use of additive manufacturing with 3D-printed components.
