We believe in the investment of corporate resources in the local communities where SMC does business, as part of our natural contribution to society’s development

Working with and for our local communities

To give back to the communities that give us so much, we play our part by contributing in the different areas where we operate and support organisations such as:

• The Wilhelm Leuschner School award-winning bee project. Appropriately trained teachers train pupils to be beekeepers by looking after the 2 bee colonies and to give them better understanding of nature and nature conservation (Egelsbach, Headquarters of SMC Germany)
• Milton Keynes Hospital Charity is the official chosen charity of the year (2022) for SMC UK and they continue to support various local initiatives in the Milton Keynes community where their headquarters are based
• The UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, was the choice in 2022 for SMC Sweden
• Special Olympics sponsorship by SMC Austria
• Foundation Haima endorsed by SMC Czech Republic who helps kids who suffer from cancer and supports them through the process and rehabilitation
• Foundation "Csodalámpa alapítvány” ("Magic Lantern Foundation"), supported by SMC Hungary, which helps sick children to fulfil their dreams
• In Japan, the SMC Kamaishi Factory, in Iwate Prefecture, is located relatively close to a residential area. SMC has installed a soundproof wall to reduce noise and provide safety measures.

Create a supply system that constantly prepares and protects against the worst, and never stops under any circumstances.

Natural disasters, infectious diseases, trade friction and conflicts, price hikes and supply shortages of materials, and other risks keep changing their shape and appearing before us. However, we will continue to make every effort to ensure that we can continue to supply our products anywhere in the world, no matter what the situation. We will also continue to strengthen our security infrastructure in preparation for unforeseen circumstances, and together with our customers and suppliers, we will continue to support the world’s future progress. This is what we call “Business Continuity Plan”.

Participating in green conservation activities by the greenery trust

SMC participates in green conservation activities organised by the Saitama Greenery Trust Association. SMC employees in Japan take part in weeding, pruning and cleaning activities such as the raking of leaves, and other activities to preserve the local greenery.
