SMC's approach to CO₂ reduction

Initiatives to reduce energy consumption and associated CO₂ emissions

Production process and product performance improvements focused on resource and energy efficiency

SMC works to improve resource efficiency across its production processes, products and operations.

To support this approach, SMC develops compact, lightweight and energy-efficient products designed to reduce material use and energy consumption. By reducing product size and weight, fewer raw materials may be required during manufacturing, and production processes can be optimized. In addition, many products are designed to help reduce energy consumption during operation.

SMC's technical, production and sales teams work together to develop solutions that help customers improve operational efficiency, reduce resource consumption and support their energy-efficiency objectives.

This approach contributes to SMC's ongoing efforts to reduce energy use and associated CO₂ emissions across products and operations.

SMC works continuously to improve energy and resource efficiency across its products, manufacturing processes and operations, with the aim of reducing associated CO₂ emissions.

Products designed to reduce material consumption and energy use

With SMC’s use of topology optimization, which is the methodology of finding the most efficient design for an object on a mathematical and mechanical basis, in the design process, more compact, lightweight products can be realized compared with existing products,  resulting in lower material consumption during manufacturing.

In addition, these products can also contribute to energy-saving and CO2 reduction during usage.
