This refers to the European regulation for the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) in Electrical and Electronic equipment.
RoHS has quite a simple aim: to restrict the use of the following ten dangerous substances and the maximum concentration values tolerated by weight in homogeneous materials:
Lead (0,1 %) Mercury (0,1 %) Cadmium (0,01 %) Hexavalent chromium (0,1 %) Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) (0,1 %) Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) (0,1 %) Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (0,1 %) Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) (0,1 %) Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) (0,1 %) Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) (0,1 %)
RoHS compliant products are indicated by the symbol [H] on the product and packaging labels, for compliance of products with the symbol [G] please check Declaration of Conformity.
Large household appliances.
Small household appliances.
IT and telecommunications equipment.
Consumer equipment.
Lighting equipment.
Electrical and electronic tools.
Toys, leisure and sports equipment.
Medical devices.
Monitoring and control instruments including industrial monitoring and control instruments.
Automatic dispensers.
Other EEE not covered by any of the categories above.
SMC products are in category 9 and 11.
