The company opened its UK office in 1978, and since 1998 SMC Pneumatics (UK) Ltd has occupied a purpose-built production, logistics and administration facility on a 14 acre site in Milton Keynes, just minutes from major rail and road links, including the M1 motorway.
The UK office is co-located with one of SMC’s two European Technical Centres, where around 70 design engineers offer specialist technical support to some of their customers in Europe.
UK customers also benefit from quicker delivery and customised product options where required because many SMC products are finished or assembled by hand in the Milton Keynes facility. In addition to the 230 staff based in Milton Keynes, SMC also has a nationwide sales team of around 120 technically-trained sales engineers.
Thanks to excellent relationships with 50 regional and national distributors, SMC products are available from 750 trade counters across the entire UK. This means that customers can purchase SMC components in a way that suits them best.
All SMC products are manufactured within an approved ISO9001 quality management system, ensuring consistency of manufacture and ultimately a long and totally reliable operating life for guaranteed peace of mind.
