What is the difference between a vacuum switch and a vacuum sensor?
A vacuum switch monitors negative pressure (vacuum) and gives a discrete on/off output when the vacuum reaches a set threshold, which a controller then reads as a signal. A vacuum sensor measures the same vacuum but outputs a continuous reading of the level. SMC’s digital vacuum switches do both — they display the live value and provide switch outputs, with an analogue or IO-Link output on selected variants.
How does a vacuum switch work?
