The European arm of SMC, the world’s leading provider of pneumatics, is continuing to grow its market share and invest in its people and infrastructure.
The company, acknowledged as one of the most innovative by leading business magazine Forbes, has more than 2500 employees in 32 countries throughout Europe. And now its German operation in Egelsbach has acquired 800 m² in new office space, 3,000 m² in additional storage space and 12,500 m² of land to accommodate growing demand and 70 new employees, over the last 12 months.
Ralf Laber, Managing Director of SMC Pneumatik GmbH in Germany said: “Last year, we saw strong sales growth together with a corresponding growth in the number of our employees to 571. To cope with this increased demand we have identified additional land and space to further develop our German facilities in Egelsbach.”
Confident about future growth, SMC Germany has acquired an additional 12,500 m² of land for development within the immediate vicinity of its Egelsbach headquarters.
“This continued investment builds on the work that we have carried out to modernise our facilities, creating a first class, high-tech working environment. Combined, these investments strengthen the position of the Egelsbach site even further,” explained Ralf.
From its Egelsbach base, SMC also carries out production operations for numerous pneumatic products and is home to the German Technical Centre (GTC), one of two European based technology centres, the other being located in Milton Keynes, England.
