No air source? No problem with SMC’s new compact compressor
The new SMC CRP series compact compressor allows design engineers to take advantage of an innovative product that allows the use of pneumatic components in areas without air source, making it perfect for use in mobile applications. Moreover, designers have the option of using the versatile CRP series as a compressor (positive pressure) or vacuum pump (negative pressure), simply by connecting the pipes in the corresponding way.
Technology moves forward
Offering discharge pressure up to 0.55 MPa and vacuum pressure to -70 kPa, the electric SMC CRP compact compressor is a real problem solver in applications where no air source is available. Examples include robots or collaborative robots (cobots) mounted on mobile AGVs (automated guided vehicles) or AMRs (autonomous mobile robots), overcoming the challenge of facilitating pneumatic operations on the move.
If space or weight is an issue, the CRP series again provides the perfect solution with its compact dimensions of only 154 mm (width) x 134 mm (height) x 100 mm (depth) and total weight of just 3.5 kg.
Users can also forget about daily maintenance with the oil-free CRP compact compressor, enhancing uptime and OEE (overall equipment effectiveness). Furthermore, depending on the environment and system requirements, customers adopting the new device can eliminate the need for a mist separator, saving cost.
Keeping the peace
Workers will certainly notice a difference in noise output when using the new CRP series. Thanks to the availability of silencers, the compact compressor emits noise down to 55 dB, making it ideal for quiet areas such as laboratories or sampling areas .
Additional advantages include the ability to work in continuous operation without overheating, alarm functions to aid machine troubleshooting, and the potential for both horizontal and vertical mounting.
Almost any industry application can compress its problems with the new CRP series, particularly where requirements exist for both positive and negative pressure, and where no air supply is available. Beyond the aforementioned mobile robots, further uses include handling systems for automotive components, the transportation of rivets or bolts in otherwise pneumatic-free applications, sample preparation and sealing in laboratories, and the general pressurisation of machines without an air source.
The new SMC CRP series overcomes challenges in these applications and many more, delivering positive or negative pressure in an extremely compact format without any compromise in performance.
